SD-705 Silage Inoculant

The SD-705 Silage Inoculant is a microbial silage additive and fermentation agent built for fast, hygienic ensiling. As a silage inoculant manufacturer in China, Tsingtao Jummos Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. produces SD-705 with selected lactic acid bacteria that drive rapid acidification, lower dry matter loss, and improve the aerobic stability of corn silage, grass silage, and total mixed ration.

Each 250 g pack treats 50 to 100 tons of silage and carries a factory total viable count of at least 1.1×10³¹ CFU/g. As the factory behind the product, we supply direct in bulk, with OEM and private-label options for distributors, feed mills, and large livestock operations.

Key Benefits
  • Faster fermentation – Three lactic acid bacteria produce abundant lactic, formic, and propionic acid to drop pH quickly and bring forage into the lactic acid phase early
  • Lower dry matter loss – Total ensiling loss is normally around 20 percent; SD-705 can cut that loss by 8 to 15 percent
  • Better aerobic stability – Lactobacillus buchneri produces acetic and propionic acid that suppress yeasts and molds at feed-out, reducing heating and spoilage
  • Improved palatability – Aromatic fermentation compounds raise silage aroma, feed intake, and feed conversion for dairy cows
  • High guaranteed potency – Factory total viable count of at least 1.1×10³¹ CFU/g, quality-controlled in-house
  • Third-party verified – Safety and microbial quality confirmed by independent Centre Testing International (CTI) testing
  • Wide crop coverage – Suitable for corn silage, grass silage, and total mixed ration
  • OEM and customization available – Custom formulation, packaging, and branding for distributors building their own line

How to Use SD-705

Add 2.5 to 5 g of SD-705 per ton of fresh whole-plant corn. A single 250 g pack treats 50 to 100 tons of silage.

  1. Dissolve one 250 g pack in a 15 L bucket of water and stir until there are no lumps.
  2. Add the solution to a 300 L tank and spray evenly over the green forage.
  3. Spray over roughly 1.5 to 2 hours per tank. One prepared tank treats 50 to 100 tons of silage.
  4. Seal the cellar from the inside out: a transparent plastic sheet first, then a black-and-white film layer, and tire pressing on top.

Precautions: Use within a single session after opening to avoid moisture uptake that weakens performance. Stir and fully dissolve the product in water before use to prevent precipitate and uneven spraying.

Product Efficacy & Features
  • Improves silage effect and quality – Lactic acid bacteria ferment quickly to produce rich lactic, formic, and propionic acid, rapidly reducing pH
  • Improves dry matter recovery – Fast acid production moves silage into lactic acid fermentation sooner, inhibiting spoilage bacteria and reducing dry matter loss
  • Accelerates fermentation and lowers pH – Three lactic acid bacteria produce acid quickly and in volume, extending shelf life and preventing secondary fermentation
  • Improves palatability and intake – Fresh, green, aromatic silage stimulates appetite and supports animal growth and development

The 3 Stages of Silage Fermentation
Stage Environment & Process Result
Stage 1: Early fermentation Aerobic. Aerobic bacteria: sugar to CO₂ + H₂O + heat Energy loss, sugar reduction, increased fiber ratio
Stage 2: Mid fermentation Anaerobic. Lactic acid bacteria: sugar to lactic acid, pH drops Protein degradation limited, higher starch digestibility; the inoculant shortens fermentation time
Stage 3: Cellar opening to feed-out Aerobic. Yeasts and molds: sugar or lactic acid to CO₂ + H₂O + heat Up to 50 percent of aerobic loss occurs here; SD-705 reduces these losses

Laboratory Evidence & Quality Verification

Studies show that Pediococcus pentosaceus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus buchneri, and the finished SD-705 complex strain are all effective at inhibiting mold, with the best result coming from a balanced combination.

SD-705 single and compound strain antibacterial effect against mold and yeast

SD-705 has been tested by Centre Testing International (CTI), an independent third-party laboratory. In trials, corn silage treated with SD-705 saw pH drop rapidly from 5.4 to 3.7 within 30 days, confirming fast lactic acid bacteria activity and abundant production of lactic, formic, and propionic acid. After treatment, yeast and mold counts fell by 37 percent and 50 percent respectively, because rapid acidification brings forage into the lactic acid phase early and suppresses spoilage organisms.

SD-705 pairs naturally with our forage and feed machinery range. Many buyers combine it with our balers, baler wrappers, and TMR mixers for a complete ensiling and feeding workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a silage inoculant?

A silage inoculant is a microbial additive containing selected bacteria, and sometimes enzymes, that steer the fermentation of fresh forage. It speeds up acidification, lowers pH, and reduces spoilage so the silage keeps more of its nutritional value through storage and feed-out.

What is the difference between a silage inoculant and a silage additive?

Silage additive is the broad category for any product added to forage to improve fermentation or preservation, including acids, salts, sugars, and microbial products. A silage inoculant is the microbial type, made from live bacteria such as lactic acid bacteria. SD-705 is a microbial silage additive, so it is both a silage additive and a silage inoculant.

What strains are in SD-705?

SD-705 contains Lactobacillus buchneri, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Pediococcus pentosaceus on a maltodextrin carrier, with a total viable count of at least 1.1×10³¹ CFU/g at the factory.

How much silage inoculant do I use per ton?

Apply 2.5 to 5 g of SD-705 per ton of fresh whole-plant corn. One 250 g pack treats 50 to 100 tons of silage.

Does SD-705 improve aerobic stability?

Yes. The Lactobacillus buchneri in SD-705 produces acetic and propionic acid that suppress yeasts and molds during feed-out, which reduces heating and spoilage when the silage face is exposed to air.

Can I order SD-705 in bulk, OEM, or private label?

Yes. As a silage inoculant manufacturer in China, we supply in bulk and offer OEM and private-label options, including custom packaging and branding. Contact us for current MOQ, lead time, and export terms.

How should SD-705 be stored and how long does it last?

Store SD-705 in a sealed container in a dry, ventilated place away from light. Low-temperature storage preserves potency best. Shelf life is 24 months.
